This little piggy

I was requested to paint a pig and this is the little piggy. I made up the background to suit the little guy and the lessons that I learned were twofold. First I am working harder to see values and secondly to see color. It is amazing that I have been painting so many years and only now beginning to catch a glimmer of understanding. I have also decided to attempt a more limited pallette.

2013

This has been a particularly interesting year. I have enjoyed the small amounts of painting that has been accomplished and looking forward to larger amounts painting. I am just completing another home painting for a birthday gift from wife to husband. Her husband built this house and two others on the same property. This is the first time a client sent me paint chips to match the house as close as possible. I will take it to framers this week and then deliver it to her. It's a fairly nice piece. I hope to get out the Garden of the Gods sometime this week and do some plein air paintings. Crossing my fingers.

New Year, New Possibilities.

Oh the possibilities...if I could predict the future, what future would I imagine? Our lives to be healthy for starters, more laughter and joy and the ability to spend more time doing the things we love. To explore , to be more creative, and to live into old age. This is one scenario for the new year. Happy, Healthy New Year...oh the possibilities.

Wedding season

Weddings are in full swing at Skyway Creations. The young brides are up on all the latest trends that are in the magazines and on television. They bring in notebooks full of ideas that they have snipped out and are creating storyboards that tell exactly the look they envision. I am amazed how smoothly the consultation goes . Take yesterday for example. My bride stopped in to pick up her hair flowers and decided to take a look at her wedding bouquet and reception bouquets and uttered the word I long to hear...Perfect. It doesn't get any better. I love weddings.

My Sisters Porch

I so enjoyed painting my sisters porch, and thought of her the whole time. It is just like her, welcoming and comfy. I was there just a while back and there were her guests sitting and visiting and laughing and it just felt nice. Well, I plan on putting it in my show this fall and hope others will like it as well. Now, to find the perfect frame...

Deer in the headlights...or rather the front yard.

Found a large buck in the front yard this morning and was he hungry. He stood up on his hind legs and was eating apples right out of the tree. Well, I grabbed the camera and got the shot. What a beast. I sure gave him the respect he deserved! I however will never forget feeding a deer on Glorias front stoop a long stemmed rose. I only wish I had a camera shot of that!

Blogging and Facebook

Blogging is perhaps boring. I really never know what to say. Same with facebook. I was mortified by the things our kids were saying, so I decided to opt out. It really amazes me that there is so much being said with so little regard for others and how they may view it. I think it means that I have gone over to the other side of maturity. It quit being amusing. Well, I still find things amusing, just not blogging or facebook. All for now.

Antlers and Eagles

Brunch at the Antlers was delectable. Don and I certainly enjoyed the company. Clayton and Corinne joined us and Rick, LeAnn, Amanda and Hunter were also in attendance. I love their family, cause it is our family. The next day Amanda and Hunter came over and we just spent the whole day playing the piano, painting, creating scarves and eating. We even went shopping for supplies and later picked up some frames for their paintings. Amanda created a beautiful lavender hyacinth flower and Hunter painted an eagle in flight . I only wish I had copied them to put in this blog. I painted an eagle head . Definitely a wonderful Monday.
